Your information, clearly explained
Privacy Policy
Effective August 4, 2026
1. Who we are
Faces is a personalized skincare intelligence app operated by Skinphics LLC ("Faces," "we," "us," or "our"). Our contact address is team@faces.skin.
2. What we collect
- Account information — your name, email address, and username when you create an account.
- Phone number — we use your phone number to sign you in with a one-time code. It is your primary account identifier.
- Profile data — date of birth, gender, skin type, concerns, and preferences you enter voluntarily.
- Skin photos — selfies and product photos you submit for analysis. Used only to provide your skin assessment. See Section 5 for how face photos specifically are handled.
- Health and lab data — biomarker or lab values you choose to upload to your Skin Vault.
- Voice input — when you dictate a message to your concierge, your device's built-in speech recognition converts your speech to text. We receive only the text. Faces does not create, upload, or store an audio recording.
- Approximate location — if you grant permission, we take a single low-accuracy reading and convert it to a city name for regional product and climate-aware tips. We store only the city name. We never store your coordinates and never track your location in the background.
- Social activity — the members you follow, block, or invite, and the referral code you sign up with, so the social features of the app work.
3. How we use your data
- Provide and personalize your skincare recommendations and AI concierge.
- Analyze skin photos to generate your skin assessment and track progress over time.
- Send you notifications you opt into (routine reminders, tips).
- Respond to your support requests.
4. AI and automated processing
Faces uses third-party AI providers to analyze your skin photos and health data and generate personalized recommendations. We name them here so you know exactly where your data goes.
- Anthropic (Claude)— receives your skin photos, skin profile, concerns, routine and product history, any lab values you upload, and the messages you send your concierge, in order to generate responses and analysis. Anthropic's privacy policy: https://www.anthropic.com/privacy
Anthropic does not use your data to train their models. We ask for your explicit consent before any of this processing begins, and we show you exactly what is shared on the consent screen in the app. You can request deletion of your data at any time (see Section 8).
Our AI recommendations are for informational purposes only and do not constitute medical advice.
5. Face data
We want to be explicit about how Faces handles photographs of your face, because it is the most sensitive thing you share with us.
What we collect. When you run a skin scan you take up to three selfies — front, turned left, turned right — using your device camera. These are ordinary photographs. Faces does not use ARKit, the TrueDepth camera, Face ID, or any face-detection or face-recognition technology. We do not create, derive, or store a faceprint, face template, facial geometry, or any other biometric identifier, and we never use your photos to identify, verify, or match you against any other person or image.
What we derive. From each scan we generate a written description of your skin: concerns and their severity, the general area of the face they appear in, noted strengths, an estimated skin type, tone and undertone, a note on photo quality, and a skin score calculated from those observations. This describes skin, not identity.
How it is used. Only to produce your skin assessment and to let you compare scans over time. Your scan photos are private to your account. They are never shown to other members, never used for advertising, and never used to train any AI model. We ask for your consent before any analysis begins, and every capture is one you initiate — the app never takes photos in the background.
Who receives it. Your photos are sent over an encrypted connection to our servers and forwarded to Anthropic for analysis, as described in Section 4. Anthropic processes them to return your results and does not use them to train its models. At rest they are held by Supabase, our storage provider, in a folder scoped to your account. No one else receives them, and we do not sell face data.
How long we keep it. For as long as your account is active, so your scan history stays available to you. When you delete your account from Settings, or ask us to delete a scan, the photos, scans and derived skin observations are deleted, in all cases within 30 days unless the law requires otherwise.
6. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in these circumstances:
- AI providers — Anthropic, as described in Section 4.
- Service providers — infrastructure and hosting providers (including Supabase for database storage) who are contractually bound to protect your data.
- Other members — reviews, comments, and profile details you choose to post publicly are visible to other Faces members.
- Legal obligations — if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Faces or others.
- Business transfer — if Faces is acquired or merged, your data may transfer to the successor entity with the same protections.
7. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
8. Your rights
You may at any time:
- Access your data by contacting us at team@faces.skin.
- Correct inaccurate data via the Edit Profile screen.
- Delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Delete account in the app.
- Export your data by emailing team@faces.skin.
If you are in the European Economic Area or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA. Contact us to exercise them.
9. Children
Faces is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
10. Security
We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to your account data requires authentication, and your skin photos are stored under a private, per-account path. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we strive to protect your data but cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will notify you via email or in-app notice before material changes take effect. Continued use of Faces after the effective date means you accept the updated policy.
